Be Real – Why Is Transparency So Important?

Transparencytransparent

Why is transparency so important for leaders to emulate? Transparency is the key to building trust. Staff members in less powerful positions within the organization feel more vulnerable when it comes to their sense of safety, power, and influence within the organization. Transparency on the part of the President or CEO provides security and faith in the authenticity of their leader. It is much easier to follow a leader who is direct and forthright than one who is guarded and defensive. Surprises, abrupt changes without adequate communication beforehand breed mistrust, fear, and insecurity at all lower levels within the organization. Transparency and authenticity breed faith and trust in a leader.
